Emerald Twilight

Inara Press’s new line of stories, Seron Serials, are a surprising treat. Emerald Twilight is one of the first offerings and it promises to bring readers weeks of enjoyment. This sci-fi fantasy transports readers to new worlds and introduces them to two characters forced together by one man’s evil machinations.

Burke Conlan is no saint, but even a drifter has standards. However, Arad Sterne won’t be denied the fulfillment of his personal agenda and threatens the one thing Burke cares about. Forced to concede, Burke accepts an assignment in return for money and a promise. The promise will go unfulfilled though as Arad deliberately imprisons Burke on Zebulon. Once there, he discovers Hallie. Can he reveal his secrets to this woman and find a way to exact his revenge against Arad? Will Hallie accept help from a drifter?

No one has ever escaped Zebulon and lived to tell. Yet escape is exactly what Hallie and Burke have planned.

The first installment in Emerald Twilight sets in motion an exciting story rich in subplots. The author’s descriptive setting makes it easy to visualize the Zebulon compound and the unusual environment that surrounds it. Hints about the vegetation and animals inhabiting the planet slowly builds the suspense surrounding their incarceration and a proposed escape. Secondary characters create additional conflict and ensure the reader is never quite sure which direction the story will go. Readers will especially like the main characters. Hallie is a courageous, kind woman who will touch readers with her strength and fortitude. Burke is an imperfect hero that is all the more likeable for his imperfections. These two characters present a dynamic relationship mixed with a variety of emotions. The ending of this installment builds to a dramatic point that guarantees the next portion of their journey can’t come too soon.
