The Bounty

In the wilds of Wyoming during the late 1800s, Tyler Calhoun, a bounty hunter, finds himself saddled with a new case that could possibly be the prize he needs to retire from his rough existence. Directed to bring back Nicky Malloy, alive preferably, Tyler is shocked to find out that the wanted individual is a little woman who has eluded other hunters for over three years. Ignoring the gut feeling that comes from agreeing to the assignment from his new employer, Tyler sets out on a task that he figures shouldn’t take that long. All he has to do is bring back Nicole, collect his reward and move on! Nicole, however, has different plans, and after saving Tyler from possible death, she takes him on a whirlwind adventure through the seediest of bars and roughest of terrains. Nicole is running out of time to convince Tyler that she isn’t a cold-blooded killer who stole from his new employers before she winds up back in the hands of a ruthless deviant who plans to make her suffer.

The Bounty reaffirmed my love for the historical genre! With the backdrop of a land where men were strong and loyal, Ms. Williamson takes us back into time and place where we lived off the land and were one with nature. Ms. Williamson created a fascinating couple that provides entertaining communication, leaving me laughing one minute and emotionally spent the next. Full of wit and spunk, Nicole was swift, intelligent and an insufferable talker who made me want to gag her on occasion. Tyler was the kind of man every woman dreams of when they think of the Old West; hard, honorable, possessive and caring for all that is his and those most vulnerable. The dance between hunter and captive was well thought out and provided non-stop excitement from the first encounter to the ostentatious finish. The Bounty was an exceptional story that made me smile and shed a couple of tears, and earned itself a top spot on my list of books to revisit over and over and over again.
