Warm Rush by Rowan McBride is a homoerotic romantic fantasy. The book begins with the characters Keith Taylor and Jessie Winters playing basketball. Keith, a teenager, is practicing his basketball with Jessie, the next-door neighbor, so he can get on the school team. Keith spends all his time with Jessie, and Jessie doesn’t think that Keith feels more than just friendship for him. The friendship comes to the test when Jessie has to go away on a business trip that will last one year.

The story continues three years later, when Jessie finally goes home. He has lived through a horrendous accident that would have killed most people. He arrives very despondent and not caring about anything. He is greeted by the next-door-neighbors. They tell him they will tell Keith that he is home. Keith, who just found, out wakes Jessie up in the middle of the night about his arrival. Keith, who once was a very scrawny boy, is now a very large and handsome young man, large being an operative word. Keith has grown in not only size, but in strength too. As Keith tells Jessie everything that has been going on while he was gone, Jessie begins to understand that Keith missed him more than he ever thought. Keith decides not to let this chance go by and propositions Jessie immediately. Jessie can’t believe that someone like Keith would want to even look at someone that is as disfigured as he is. Keith proves him wrong in the most delicious way (to both of their enjoyment!!). Keith seems to know what Jessie needs to keep him safe and comfortable without Jessie needing to say anything to him.

As the story continues, Keith acts as not only Jessie’s lover, but also his guardian and knight in shining armor! He comes to his rescue when he needs him and protects him when he is in danger. Things in life do not always go as planned and the road for Jessie and Keith has many unknown factors that they need to over come.

There are so many twists in this plot that it keeps the reader needing to find out what will happen next. I felt the interaction between Jessie and Keith was very telling. The reader had a good understanding of Keith’s feelings long before Jessie. The reader sympathized with how Keith felt, while also having a good understanding about how Jessie was feeling at the same time. This kept the reader rooting for a happy ending for the two. The erotic scenes were both very hot and loving at the same time. The reader could feel all the love that Keith had for Jessie. The reader could also feel the torment and confusion that Jessie felt toward how Keith acted towards him. Will the two finally get to a point where they can be happy together or will they be destined to be apart?

Mr. McBride created a fun and very loving book for the readers to enjoy. I had a hard time putting it down until I finished it. Thank you for writing such an enjoyable book.
