Love's Challenge

Sondra Quinn’s Love’s Challenge presents the aftereffects of a family that is thrown into chaos when the parents of five young boys are tragically killed. Adria Sinclair may not have known her nephews well, but her heart is big enough to take them in and try to build a new life for them. Little did she know that along with the pleasure and joys of family, she would face tough choices along the way. If that wasn’t enough, just when she believes she is starting to get the hang of things, Bryce Hathaway, comes into their lives. One man has already proven that a woman with five children is not desirable; surely Bryce won’t be any different.

Love’s Challenge showcases love beyond romance. Adria and her nephews are still learning to live with each other, but there is no doubt of the love they have for each other. Anyone can appreciate the devotion and support they display. When Bryce pursues a relationship with Adria he changes the status quo and each member of the family has a reaction. The telling of the story is focused on the relationships and interactions of the characters. Ms. Quinn has captured the nuances of family well. From each boy’s reaction, and Adria’s hesitation, to Bryce’s confusion and frustration, the responses seem natural and real. The plot moves along at a steady pace, with only a few sections seeming to lose focus and backtrack. Even with the length of the story, character development is limited to Bryce and Adria with the secondary characters providing humor, guidance, and the means to move the story forward. The eventual trust and love that develops between all the characters is touching, and ensures that those who take time to read Love’s Challenge will meet not just a couple who find love, but an entire family.
