The Magic Of You
Amy Malory, just shy of eighteen, has just had her come-out. She has been looking forward to it for many months, but not because she intends to look for a husband. Being presented marks the transition from girl to woman, though Amy has had the emotions and body of a woman for some time now. For the last six months, she has known who she will have for a husband, and she is determined to have him no matter he spends little time in England. Not even the animosity between him and her uncles is going to stop her from having him. He is Warren Anderson, her aunt Georgina's brother. Whilst there is bad history between the men, Amy has been unable to control her feelings. She is in love with Warren, and she will have him. But will he have her?
Warren has never met a more brazen woman than Amy Malory. She is as bold a woman as he has ever come across – and being captain of his own ship, he has come across many from various cultures. Following an extremely bad experience with a woman in the past, he is determined never to wed. This experience turned him into the hard, cynical man that he is now. He cannot understand why the young and vibrant Amy would even be interested in him, but her advances make him feel trapped. The attraction between them is bad enough, but he continues to deny to himself that there is anything but lust between them – until Amy's life is put in danger, thanks to him. Will he finally recognize that they are meant for each other? Will he be able to protect her from the danger they find themselves in? Will her uncles kill him before allowing him to have her?
If you asked me to choose my favorite Malory novel, it would be a toss up between this, The Magic Of You, and Gentle Rogue. Why? I have little idea. I love the entire set, and am awaiting many more (please, let Johanna Lindsey write on in this series!). Perhaps because I love the idea of Amy having set her cap for Warren, and going for him against all the odds. Mayhap it is the contention between Warren and Amy's uncles. Either way, this book gives me the shivers, and also has me laughing – intensely, until my throat hurts - throughout. The Magic Of You is a tale of love, determination, adventure, action and a little suspense. We again meet up with all the characters, all of whom are marvelous. Every character is fully developed, appealing and believable. Though best read in order, each book can be read alone as they all give the needed background information on the previous books. Excellent for someone new to the series; a great reminder for fans already immersed in the Malory clan. Intimate encounters are described in detail, and the plot is excellently paced. The Magic Of You is an extremely enjoyable tale. Highly recommended and a must-read!
