The Present

The Present is a novel that sees the whole Malory clan gathered together for Christmas at Haverston, the family estate and residence of Jason Malory, the head of the family. Rather than focusing on any one couple, this novel is a chance to catch up with all of the characters who have made the Malory novels such a hit thus far. Jason's decades long relationship with his housekeeper, Molly, finally comes to light. James and Georgina are at odds. The usual sparring between the family members continues. And they all receive a gift that unlocks the legend of their grandmother's beginnings. None of them know where the wrapped journal came from; it just…appeared from nowhere. But within its pages is knowledge of the past - and aid for the present.

The Present is unusual in that it is not focused solely on the relationship of one couple, but rather how the relationships from previous Malory tales are faring. If you are a Malory fan, then this could definitely be a novel for you, especially if you would like to catch up with the characters and find out about their grandmother, long whispered to have been a gypsy. If you haven't read any from this series yet, I would advise you to hurry up and do so – but be sure to read them in order the first time you read them, at least, for you are sure to reread them all again multiple times. Johanna Lindsey has penned a tale that brings all of our beloved Malory family together, solves a long held legend and gives us the relationship of the long deceased Malory grandparents. If you love this series, then don't miss The Present!
