Spellbound: Say You’re Mine

She’s smart and pretty. She’s also a witch. Working within her family’s private investigative firm, Violet Calder knows how much of a cynical nuisance cops pose to her unusual life. Therefore, she is determined to avoid any potential relationships to all policemen, but one sexy cop in particular. That is until she lands herself – literally – into the thick of things.

Detective Reece Prescott is acquainted with the “odd” Calder family and their aggravatingly frequent ability to turn up tangled in his investigations. So despite Violet’s allure, he has avoided pursuing the attraction thus far. Only now, in order to keep his undercover assignment from being exposed, he is forced to protect her while trying to pass her off as his girlfriend. Maybe if they make it out of this disaster alive, he will have a chance to figure out the mystery that is Violet.

Ms. Somers has produced a thoroughly entertaining read. One thing that struck me about Say You’re Mine was that it didn’t take itself too seriously. Sometimes such lightheartedness can hinder a storyline, but in this case, the humor succeeded only in enhancing its appeal for me. I can’t resist a book that has the ability to make me laugh or smile. Not to mention that Violet and Reece are a satisfyingly steamy couple with enough sexual tension between them to shake the pages. This is the first book in Ms. Somers’s Spellbound series and her titling doesn’t lie – it has the potential to be spellbinding. I look forward to future installments.
