Devil’s Heart

Ali Donovan has finally made the decision to go back to the agency and returns to her home office. Having her life back in order, she is once again sidetracked with the arrival of Jack Gunnison, aka Gun: the one man that sets her body on fire as much as her dangerous job keeps her adrenaline pumping. With sparks flying between them with his return, she is shocked to see that bullets are also flying.

Jack Gunnison, Gun, has completed his latest mission and has some down time and when Gun has down time, he goes straight back to Ali. With her feisty personality in and out of bed, Gun finds himself drawn to her. Only this time when he returns, he finds not only is he just as attracted to her as he was when he left, but her life is in danger. Gun is just the professional to take on this assignment, take out the enemy, and ensure Ali’s safety; if only he could convince her she needs him.

Ali and Gun find their business back in Bogotá, Columbia isn’t quite done when an enemy surfaces with revenge planned. Fighting to keep themselves one step ahead, determining the enemy’s location, and struggling with the emotions they have for each other, Ali and Gun are left guessing and making one decision after another. At the moment everything seems to be perfect, they land in the middle of a dangerous situation leaving them to fight for what they want. Will Gun be able to protect Ali or will the enemy be too hard to stop? Have Ali and Gun come to the end of their journey together with this new danger?

Devil’s Heart is the follow-up story to Devil Take Me, revisiting Ali Donovan and Jack Gunnison. However it can be read as a stand along story since it is well written and includes enough back story to bring a new reader up to date and leave them wanting to go back and read the first story. Ali still has her determined and independent personality, only to show the compassionate women underneath where Gun is concerned. Gun has come back to see the one woman he can’t get out of his system and brings his alpha personality along for the ride. Just like the storyline in Devil Take Me, Gun and Ali set the pages on fire with their sizzling, hot chemistry. They are just as dynamic together as this reader remembered. Added to the tantalizing passion, Betty Womack has crafted a suspenseful plot that will leave readers, as well as Ali and Gun, guessing until the end. This reader was very pleased with the surprise partner Gun had along part of the way and finds she is wondering if he has an adventure waiting to be told. 5 Angels!
