After Detective Rachel Flynn finds a dead body that has been drained of fluids, only one thought enters her mind, vampirism. She has been investigating a serial killer and with each murder she encounters, it all points to vampires. Not one to believe in the undead, she has to find the real culprit, but the more her search continues, real vampires appear to be the source behind the killings.

Amanda Keening, a probationary federal agent, is looking into the disappearance of her mother and half-brother when she meets Rachel.

After Rachel’s fifteen-year-old son, Cory turns up missing, when something attacks him and drags him away; it becomes personal. Rachel begins her search, not only for her son but for a way to help save her town. Someone or something is bent on total destruction as zombies suddenly appear out of nowhere. As time runs out for the town, Rachel and Amanda are caught in the middle as Cory finds his own way to fight this new form of evil.

Of Man and Monsters is a most gripping read. I was mesmerized not only by the well-rounded characters but by the whole story of the vampires and everything surrounding them. This sequel to Loki’s Sin carries the reader into a wonderful tale of mystery and suspense that gets better with each turn of the page. The interesting characters spin some excitement along the way that comes alive with great creativity. The reader can almost feel Cory’s thrill when he is able to offer his assistance. Rachel, his mother, is a very strong woman in all her actions. Saje Williams generates a riveting tale of action and non-stop exhilaration that engages the reader until the dramatic conclusion. He cleverly constructs some dastardly villains that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. The writing is so remarkable, that even when the zombies were moving about, I could almost hear the crunch of their feet as they hit the ground. This is one cunning piece of work with so many twists and turns, that it is hard to guess the outcome of the book in this wonderful keeper.
