Kael Gardener is the survivor of a horrific attack on his parents and sister. He has used the fear and pain from that attack to fuel a lifetime of hunting the animals that destroyed his idyllic life. Now, he and his team of vampire hunters have decided to take a much-needed break from their travels in New Orleans. While there, he meets an amazing woman that strips him of all internal barriers and makes him wonder if a ‘normal’ life could possibly be in his future. When an evil vampire begins to stalk the same woman, Kael doubts any kind of life other than that of a hunter is possible.

Simone Charvez is one of a powerful family of witches charged with the safety and well-being of the people of New Orleans. She has extremely sensitive empathic powers and despairs of ever finding a mate that will think of her as a capable woman instead of only a sex object. When Kael walks into her boutique she can’t seem to keep her eyes off of him and wonders if he could be the man she’s been hoping for. After a terrifying experience brings evil to their doorstep they combine forces to destroy it. But their pasts may interfere with their future to the point that they may not have the ‘happily-ever-after’ that the Charvez women usually find with their mates.

Lauren Dane has done it again; she’s grabbed us and thrown us into the midst of a fantastic story. I enjoyed the push and pull that Simone and Kael had. It tugged on my heart strings and punched me in the gut. In Witches Knot: Vengeance Due Lauren Dane continues her saga of the Charvez women and brings them to life in sometimes maddening ways. We are able to revisit the other characters from the first two books, but never do we feel that we’re only getting half the story. This can be read as a stand-alone title, but I would highly suggest that you read the other two books first. I wait impatiently for the next episode in this drama.
