Desire Never Dies

Anastasia is shocked when one of her close friends, another spy like herself, is badly injured in an apparent trap. Her friend’s injury reminds her of her husband’s death some years ago. She’s mourned him thoroughly, finding an outlet only in the guise of her spying. She doesn’t work in the field but concentrates behind the scenes and has become an expert at cracking codes. This suits her just fine and she sees no reason for this to change.

Ana blames fellow spy Lucas for her friend’s injury, since she was attacked when on her way to meet him. His penetrating gaze makes Ana feel very vulnerable and the tension between them is almost palpable. Lucas does not like the idea of lady spies in the field and isn’t shy about voicing his opinion. When Ana and he are thrust together to finish Emily’s mission, they must find a way to make their relationship work.

This book is what all Regency historicals should aspire to be! I loved the idea of the female spies working alongside the men. This gave the book a very modern flavor without detracting from the time frame or storyline. The romantic tension was done flawlessly, leaving the reader eager to see the culmination of Ana and Lucas’ desire. The spies plot added another layer of adventure and tension and kept me riveted. I haven’t read any of Jenna Petersen's books before, but you can bet she’s on my ‘must buy’ list now. I haven’t been this intrigued by a Regency historical author since Julia Quinn exploded on the scene some years ago. Kudos to you, Jenna Petersen, for a fantastic story!
