Witches Night

Under The Spell by Kallysten

As a child Tina used to visit a magical bookstore with her grandmother. Now after her grandmother has passed on she finds the need to visit the shop once more. Loneliness has brought her there, and the need to regain one that she has lost. Will the spell work on this dark October night?

Kallysten has written a wonderful tale, that is just totally enchanting and captivating. All the way through readers will be on the side of Tina hoping that her recent loneliness will soon be coming to an end. It is well written and the story has a warmth to it that is perfect for a cold dark night.

The Witch’s Apprentice by Barri Bryan

As the last child of a poor man who can no longer afford her dowry, Marigold is apprenticed off to the witch who lives deep in the dark woods. To her surprise she enjoys the lessons Endora teaches her, although she wishes she had a bit more freedom. This wish comes to pass when Endora leaves for a two week Samhain celebration, and whilst Endora is away she meets up with Master Wizard Diogenes Devayne.

The Witch’s Apprentice is a very tongue in cheek version of a fairy tale. It is interestingly written and is certainly different. Barri Bryan has managed to create some very unique characters and although it is very unusual as a tale the whole story has an old world charm to it and an innocence that isn’t normally found in romance stories.

One Magickal Night by Melanie Anderson

For Connor Scott there was just something magical about the waitress. After finding out from her colleagues she was called Jane Smith, he just had to meet her; it didn’t matter to him that she was a witch, he just had to speak to her. But how on earth was he going to do that?

One Magickal Night sees the joining of two like minded souls, who get together for what they assume will be only one night, however Melanie Anderson has other plans and has written them a wonderful short story of a modern day contemporary romance. Readers will enjoy reading and finding out how these two get on and where there personal lives lead them. It is a well-written short tale and one that will warm anyone up on a cold night.

The Way You Look Tonight by Vivien Dean

On their last night in New York, Maddy finds herself unsure if moving to England is such a great idea. Sitting in the midst of her friends, she feels isolated and alone, knowing that she is going to England out of love for Cash but wondering if that is enough. Luckily for her however on this last night Cash has no intention of letting it be any less memorable and has a number of surprises planned.

The Way You Look Tonight is an interesting story, which is a continuation of a previous tale so a lot of the back-story is missing in this and the reader will get a sense of walking into the middle of a conversation. However it is possible to read it without knowing what came before, and Ms. Dean manages to paint a colorful and passionate story.

No Other Magic by Ariel Graham

Be careful what you wish for; that is the message Carrie is about to learn. When she accidentally taps into powers she never realized she had she unleashes something that threatens to kill her and all the ones she never knew she really loved. However the one you love is sometimes closer than you realize, and Carrie is about to discover this.

No Other Magic has been written in a way to increase tension and the sense that things aren’t quite right. Ariel Graham has managed to produce a story that is fast paced and sometimes almost uncontrollable as the main character begins to dream, the various dynamics used make for a great tale and one the readers will just have to hold on to and follow through till the end. It is one I would definitely recommend and is a tale that stands out and will make the reader think.

Black Cat by Cat Johnson

Belinda misses curling up to her boyfriend when he goes away which is why she finds her self in the animal rescue center. Lar has been a cat now for long enough, ever since that witch cursed him he has roamed around trying to return to his human form; as soon as he sets eyes on Belinda, however he just knows his life is going to change. Now all he has to do is get rid of her boyfriend.

With Black Cat, Cat Johnson has managed to produce a wonderful short story, which will have readers delighted. It is rare to find a story so complete and yet still very accessible and uncluttered so it was a pleasant surprise to read Black Cat. Readers will fall in love with all the characters and be able to see themselves and their friends in each one.

Witch Of The Wind by Lee Rowan

Both Meredith and her husband Matt have jobs that keep awkward hours, she’s a nurse-midwife, he’s an air-rescue ranger. As his job is to protect and rescue those in need Meredith always makes sure that the goddess is watching over and protecting him especially this Halloween night.

As the last story in this book, Witch Of The Wind is a comforting warm loving tale that will make the readers feel happy and loved. Lee Rowan has managed to create two characters who, because of their love for one another, find nothing will ever be impossible. This is a wonderful refreshing tale and is just perfect for the last one of the book as it is filled with hope and much more.

Witches Night is a showcase for many different styles and authors, this is a mixed bag of abilities but each story has its own unique presence making the whole book a joy to read. I would recommend this book to anyone, even those who have not read anything by any of these authors before; it is a great way to discover them and also to read some fantastic stories.
