Agency of Extraordinary Mates: Carousel

Evette and Aurora are a dichotomy and owners of The Carousel, a bar popular with mortals and otherworldly creatures. Evette is the night dweller, whilst Aurora is the day dweller. During the day only Aurora has a physical form, whilst Evette’s body is dispersed and her energy absorbed by Aurora. At dawn and dusk they switch. For an hour during transition they both retain their form, and then one disperses. Whilst close, the sisters are themselves as different to one another as night and day. Aurora is a gentle woman, who looks for tenderness in a lover. Evette is bold and brassy, but a true submissive at heart. She has never been able to find a man able to master her as she desires. Being dichotomies, they have few chances to find a mate with whom they can have children. They need a man who is compatible with their physiology before they can soul bond. Though not actively looking for a mate, it seems that one has found them – though he is not looking to mate with them, he is searching for an enemy of his people. When they come into contact, their bodies let loose powerful pheromones that they cannot control and none of them can resist. Can he be the mate who suits both women, one who wants tenderness, one who desires mastery? Can they help him with his mission? Are they themselves in any danger?

Lyell is the last of the Sutrotha, an order of the Unseleighe Sidhe’s who banded together to defeat the evil Raonull. It was believed that all in the battle had perished, leaving no Raonull Masters alive. Now, however, there is reason to believe that one did, and he is systematically killing off members of the House of Karlis. Being the last of the order, it is up to Lyell to defeat the evil that is still alive. To do this, he needs to travel outside of the Unseleighe realm. His vision has shown him the way, a lead to follow. A vision unlike any he has ever experienced before. But has he misinterpreted the vision? Are the women in the vision his route to finding the Raonull – or are they to be something else to him entirely? With the Elementals on his side, combining their power with his, and the power of the dead Sutrotha’s alive within him, will Lyell be able to vanquish the Raonull master?

I have read several books from the Agency of Extraordinary Mates Series and have enjoyed them all. If you are looking for something that is fresh and original, with a taste of fantasy and the paranormal, then you need to give this great series a try. This is the third tale Ms. Ross has written for this series, all three being about dichotomies. Though not strictly required, it would be beneficial to read the series in order, particularly Ms. Ross’s, as there is a slight background story running through them. Having said that, it is still fairly easy to follow the story, even if you haven’t read the previous tales. Besides these characters being highly unusual, they provide an opportunity for the author to be inventive with their sexual encounters. Threesomes abound *grin*. Please note their is some mild bondage, as well as anal play and anal sex. You may have difficulty keeping parts of the tale straight, with the plotline’s engagement of different dimensions, realms, time spaces and planes. Nevertheless, you will still enjoy the story and you will get to a certain point where these will just click into an understanding and appreciation in your mind. Though not the best of the series, Carousel is enjoyable and anyone following the series should definitely grab a hold of it with both hands.
