Entertaining Mr. Stone

Maria Lewis has decided it’s time for a change in her life. She’s going to settle down from her bad girl days and take a steady, reliable job in local government as an assistant’s assistant. However after starting her new role, her naughtier side quickly makes quite an impression on her colleagues. She catches the attention of Director of Finance, Robert Stone, who decides to take her under his wing. Mel, her neighbor and colleague, offers Maria a ride around town on her motorcycle, whenever Maria desires. Even Sandy, her uptight supervisor, gains some respect in Maria’s eyes after Maria oversees an illicit afternoon tryst. Maria is having the time of her life; between her exciting interoffice affairs and wondering whether she can keep her job when she spends so much time daydreaming about Mr. Stone. Maria isn’t too sure whether she has what it takes to keep Mr. Stone entertained.

Entertaining Mr. Stone by Portia Da Costa is a sexy, grown up chick lit book that explores the exciting side of single life, beyond shopping, clothes and melodramatic hook ups. Maria is the good bad girl, living the familiar monotonous working life in the hectic office grind. When she begins to act on some familiar office fantasies, her escapades run the gambit from adventurous to shameful. I enjoyed how Ms. Da Costa gave Maria very realistic reactions to her busy sexual encounters. Maria’s desire was always Mr. Stone, but their delightful love play heated up the story and told an unconventional tale of two people finding their other halves. I would have enjoyed the story a bit more had Maria shown a bit more initiative in her sexual encounters before the end of the story, with regards to challenging Mr. Stone, however I think her growth in experimentation was a nice way to end a sexy, light read.
