Alaskan Hideaway
Isabella is headed north to Alaska and the remote Ice Worm Lake. Losing her best friend, her uncle, and riddled with nightmares of the horrors she endured, Isabella craves the quiet and safety of a cabin in the middle of the wilderness. Spending her time rocking on the porch, walking around the small lake, and picking wild berries, Isabella hopes this time will give her what she needs: she needs to discover a direction for her life.
As Brandon flies across the wilderness of Alaska enroute to Fairbanks, he has lots of time to think about his future. He has come to a point in his life where he isn’t sure if he wants to continue on its current path. Oh, he’s got a good job, a dangerous job, that he has enjoyed but it’s not one he loves any more. There is also the small detail that maybe it is time to settle down, get married, and have a couple of kids.
With the weather getting worse and visibility almost non-existent, Brandon struggles to make his way to Fairbanks. In order to make any progress, he must continually fly lower and lower. Next thing he knows, there is a lake and he is way too low. Crash landing into the icy cold water, Brandon knows this is the end. Isabella hears a plane and when she finally finds it, she can’t believe how low it is. She desperately wants it to pull up, pull up. Only it doesn’t and ends up in the lake. The only thing she can think of is, can she get to the pilot in time. Will Isabella be able to handle her quiet sanctuary being invaded by Brandon?
Alaskan Hideaway offers readers the beautiful backdrop of Alaska and an emotional journey for two characters. Isabella needs to find some happiness out of life after having hers ripped from her in such a horrible way. My heart ached for all she had to deal with before coming to her little cabin. Brandon has had a life filled with danger and devotion to the government and wants the American dream of the white picket fence and 2.5 children. This reader was rooting for him to find it with Isabella. Struggling emotionally, Isabella finds being in Brandon’s presence is more difficult than she originally thought. With tender chemistry, readers will wish they had a cabin of their own with a pilot just like Brandon crashing into their life. The journey they follow, in order to have what they want the most, is very emotional and worth fighting for. Leanne Karella has done an outstanding creating two characters that this reader will remember for a very long time. 5 Angels!
