Accidental It Girl

Sadie Price is a celebrity’s worse nightmare. She’s paparazzi. A very successful one in fact. Sadie doesn’t mind her work; it pays the bills after all. She used to be a rising portrait artist, but, that doesn’t quite make the money that chasing after celebrities does. However, one celebrity is about to show her the other side of the coin.

Ethan Wyatt is a sizzling Hollywood actor. However, when one of Sadie’s pictures causes him some serious photo carnage, he’s on the war path. His plan is simple and yet, really throws Sadie’s world out of whack. Suddenly, he’s the one taking the pictures, shoving the flash in her face, and in general, making her life a nuisance. He even concocts some rumors about her love life that are making the tabloids chase her even more. Sadie’s calm and controlled life of chasing celebrities for the picture of the moment is seriously under pressure from Ethan’s lens. But snapshots aside, Ethan and Sadie are starting to find that they are enjoying their sparring more than is natural for a celebrity and paparazzi relationship. Has love snuck into their photographs? Or will she try for the perfect revenge? After all, a picture can say a thousand words and when it’s in the hands of the tabloids, there’s no stopping the damage it could cause.

Accidental It Girl gives readers a look at what it’s like to be not only a member of the paparazzi, but what it’s like when the other side is exposed. Sadie never imagined how hard it would be to live under the pressure of constant scrutiny and lack of privacy. Nothing is sacred to the paparazzi, as she herself has somehow forgotten. Ethan and Sadie certainly have a love/hate relationship, but there is a real dynamic between them, even from the beginning, that keeps the hate from turning into a bitter battle. Rather, each of these characters is having a bit of fun on the other side of the fence, even Sadie who has some tough moments to face. Libby Street does a good job of creating Sadie as slightly cynical but at the very core of her, a woman who wants to do right. She just hasn’t had that epiphany yet. Good laughs, lots of snappy and clever dialogue, and some intriguing relationships, most notably Sadie’s non-relationship with her mother, keep this story moving along at a strong pace. Readers will surely be engaged in this delightful celebrity style caper.
