Binding the Wolf by Kay Derwydd is a homoerotic paranormal story made up of two parts that tell the story from each of the characters point of view. The story begins as Zack and Nate arrive home from the store. The guys have a pack of four Alaskan Huskies. Anyone that knows dogs knows that full grown Huskies are huge dogs that will usually only listen to the alpha of the pack. Nate is definitely the leader and the biggest dog, Thor, enjoys taunting Zack by getting in his way and refusing to move. After Zack gets the dogs settled with HUGE bones to chew on (they must be REALLY BIG to satisfy those size dogs!!), he goes to the bedroom to settle someone else’s hunger. The love scene between Nate and Zack is very raw, basic and very hot! Nate knows what he wants Zack to do to him and Zack is more than happy to comply. Nate is very large and in charge to the satisfaction of both of them. Zack uses all the tricks that Nate taught him to the satisfaction of both of them.

Zack has a hard day at work and all he wants to do is go home to Nate and the dogs. When he arrives home all he finds is a note and a request to do something and go and find Nate if he really loves him. This request is not your usual and what Zack has to do makes little sense. Will Zack’s love be strong enough to follow through with what Nate wants him to do? Will Nate patiently wait to see if Zack is strong enough to weather the storm that this request might initiate? Will Zack and Nate find a way to be together? Read this story and find out.

Ms. Derwydd took a very short story and added all the necessary ingredients to make a well thought out story. The main characters were well defined and the reader could easily feel how each of them was feeling. I enjoyed reading the story from both characters points of view. This type of writing enables the reader to get a fuller view about how each character feels and what each of their responses were. The funniest part of the story was Zack’s response to the Alaskan Huskies. I for one find them to be very large, but for the most part very loving dogs, once you get beyond their large size. The surprises that happened in the story were as much a surprise to the reader as they were to the characters. The love scenes between Zack and Nate were very animalistic which made sense as the story unfolded. This is the first book from Freya’s Bower that I have read. I really enjoyed this and it is this readers hope to see more books by Ms. Derwydd and this publisher.
