Bandar: Heather and the Harem Scroll
Although anthropologist Heather Morrison knew she was selected as part of Professor Grant Drury’s excavation team as the token female, she didn’t care. She was going to use her expertise in ancient Indurlian to discover, document and highlight the lives of women of the past, no matter how she got the opportunity. And if she happened to show up every male on the team in the process, so much the better! But when she discovers a scroll detailing the preparation process of a woman for entry into the king’s harem, she is transported to ancient Indurlia, where she is mistaken for the young woman destined to be the king’s next concubine!
Heather must somehow avoid Melgart, the harem eunuch, and discover how to get back to her time, all the while fighting her attraction for Prince Grentoori, a man who reminds her very much of Grant Drury. Can she survive the political intrigue of an Indurlian harem and somehow get back home? And if so, will she want to, if she must leave Grentoori?
Heather and the Harem Scroll takes you on a journey to a place and time where women were believed to be weak and subjected to men’s rule. When Heather is transported to that time, she must come to terms with her thoughts as well as her feelings. She begins to realize the power that women have and learns to use her own strengths. She must also come to terms with the sensuousness of the harem preparations and how they affect her. Mardi Ballou manages to show Heather’s shifting thoughts and feelings in a way that ensnares the reader, pulling one into a world full of desire and intrigue, and which will leave one searching for more. Enjoy!
