The year is 1809, and Ari is on a mission of the most utmost importance. She is in Dartmouth to shoot the rotten man called Robert Travellion Fox Grandquest. He is nothing but a murderer and dangerous to everyone. The death of her beloved cousin Dolpho was the last straw. She promised him she would seek out Fox, just before he passed away. Ari is not quite up to the task, and instead of shooting Fox Grandquest, she ends up with a slight head wound and a concussion. Ari awakens to find herself in Fox's home and under his care. She does not want Fox to know of her political involvement in British matters, so she cleverly plays along with Dr. Kilpatrick, and uses the excuse of having amnesia. Ari does not know that Fox has his own reasons for keeping her. The most important reason is because he does not know if she is aware of his hidden, secretive agenda and activities and with her being ill, he cannot face another death because of a decision he's made. Neither expects to find an attraction to blossom between them. Two people who don't dare love or trust, find themselves in an impossible situation. How can a relationship exist between two people afraid to tell the truth? Ari and Fox both have had pasts that they hide for their own personal reasons. They must either come together as a team, or expect only the worst. For love is not the only thing at stake here.

Dangerous to Love is a romantic, historical novel at its best. Victoria Dark has created characters that are three dimensional and reach out to the reader. I understood both Ari and Fox, for the decisions they made in the past and present. Together, they create a sensual fire destined to arouse many readers because of the intensity. The secondary characters are just as delightful and unique. Ari is an educated and high spirited woman destined to be an equal partner in a relationship, which is unusual for this time period and adds a very nice twist. I liked the fact that Fox was not portrayed as perfect but had his flaws alongside his strengths. This is the type of novel that once you start the first paragraph, you'll stay up till the wee hours of the morning to finish it.
