Grounded: Michaela

Angel Michaela has been “grounded” – sent to Earth for the duration of a mortal life – as punishment for going along with her friend Electra’s stunt. While it is hoped that she will learn compassion for mortals, she has also been given the task to help a tortured soul, but she has a lot to learn about life as a human.

Ty Brock is working to rebuild his life after making parole for his gambling addiction. When the oddly clueless Michaela arrives at his door he just can’t seem to find it in himself to turn her away. Not only does he want to help her, he can’t stop the aching need to protect her, or to fully control his desire for her. Ty has sworn off gambling and hard liquor, but women are just another vice, aren’t they?

Can Michaela convince Ty he’s a man worth forgiveness and love? And really, can an ex-con and an ex-angel have a future, especially when her existence may be a forbidden secret?

I couldn’t help cheering for this unlikely couple. While I found Ty a sufficiently admirable character for his patience and sincere aspiration to change his life, I give major props to Ms. Karella for creating such a wonderful character in Michaela. I was continually amused by her curiosity, confusion, and exuberance. Even now find myself smiling in memory. Readers should get ready to have their heartstrings pulled by Michaela’s endearing innocence, as well as her compelling anguish. Grounded is enticing in the most sweetly irresistible way.
