The Legacy of Rose House

Catherine is a renowned restaurant critic with a wary heart. Marcus is an up-and-coming restaurateur who staunchly avoids emotional attachments to women. A year ago they engaged in a brief but intense affair. Unfortunately, their breakup was disastrous and ended in a costly courtroom dispute filled with lots of bitterness and little resolution.

Now a shocking inheritance from an unknown woman names the couple as its heirs. There’s just one catch: in order to fulfill the terms of the will, Cat and Marc must live and work – only with each other – for six weeks at their benefactor’s estate, the Rose House. It doesn’t take long for the sparks to rekindle, but can the two get through the hurt and animosity of the past? Will they learn to communicate and trust one another, or are they only setting themselves up for worse heartache?

The Legacy of Rose House is an entertaining tale surrounding two independent and passionate characters, both dealing with their vulnerability to each other. In fact, some of their antics are sure to make you smile. Ms. Christian does an admirable job of concisely defining a character’s thoughts, as well as identifying a number of little things that contribute to the building tension between the couple. With the chemistry between Cat and Marc, it is not unbelievable that a few of their encounters deliver a bit of spiciness for readers. At the same time, some paranormal activity adds to the depth of the story, and fluid dialogue makes this an enjoyable, quick read.
