Peek A Boo (I See You)
Jennifer Kelly, (Jenny) McGregor’s, friends know her as Blade, a punk rock star with short spiked red hair, piercings, and tattoos. Even though she has worked hard to keep her life private she begins receiving mysterious notes signed only as ‘Runner.’ She quickly learns that someone intends to find everything out about her personal life. Dan Janson is a San Diego police detective who is not looking forward to babysitting a spoiled punk rocker. He feels like an unsettling fan that refuses to leave her alone is harassing her. As he begins to spend time with Jenny, he cannot understand how his feelings can be so strong toward her. He still hasn’t gotten over the death of his wife and unborn son, and to have these feelings doesn’t feel right. Yet he and Jenny seem to grow closer to each other with each passing day.
She is not really one for dating but Dan makes her feel special and as she enlists his help to find the person stalking her, they find themselves on a wild chase to find whoever is behind the signing of the notes.
Anyone who loves anything about the music world will love Peek A Boo (I See You). With romance and thrills to find a stalker that has his sights on Jenny, this is one tail-spinning read. The heated chemistry between Jenny and Dan slowly intensified. With the background of threatening events surrounding Jenny, and Dan trying to fight the guilt of his wife and son’s deaths, the captivating passion between the two is pure enchantment. I liked the idea about the punk rockers being involved with a scenario that keeps the reader turning the pages. Ms. Martinez pens a well-written read with great secondary characters that make a wonderful story of two people trying to come with terms in their life as their hearts find a path to bring them closer to each other to heal any problems. She does have a way of keeping the reader hooked until the end to find the suspect and for allowing two lost souls to find love with each other. A very good read indeed!
