The River’s Treasure

Genevieve Rawlings is only able to patch together details of her past with little clues from one of many nightmares. Cooper Monroe immediately does the first thing that comes to mind when he stumbles upon a woman that appears to be drowning by coming to her rescue. He is concerned when he learns that Genevieve has no memory. Just one glimpse and he can tell she is not from anywhere nearby. She looks like she comes from a family of class.

Genevieve is not certain if she should stay with Cooper, but she feels safe and when their attraction to each other begins to grow stronger, the two have a hard time hiding their feelings. He knows that she doesn’t belong on any farm and after she is attacked over her necklace, he decides it is best to find her father and take her home. Genevieve, on the other hand, wishes to stay with the family she has grown to love. Since Cooper has lost his first wife because of fever, she wishes to comfort him as much as he has her. The two have a struggle ahead if they wish to find happiness with each other.

The River’s Treasure is a poignant read that reaches out and touches the heart. Genevieve is caught in the middle while one man wishes her life and the other craves her soul to love always. Cooper still has moments where he has not gotten over the loss of his wife and wonders if he should give in to another love. The emotion is tender and caring as the two try to overcome the obstacles before them. I thought the way Ms. Quinn outlines the story of the memory lapse with Genevieve was quite believable in all her actions. The well-rounded secondary characters keep the story flowing smoothly. I admire the way Ms. Quinn created the setting and instilled such a wonderful atmosphere that put this reader in the core of the story. With a great feel for the era, and some magnificent research, I found this read most remarkable and it definitely left me with a great feeling.
