When Fate dumps some very interesting things at stockbroker William Sloan’s feet, what can a man do but pick them up? If they include a red adult toy, well then, who is he to question the vagaries of Fate? Amanda Rykowsky is not the type that comes to mind when thinking of adult toys and videos but that is all the more reason why Will would like to get to know her better. Unfortunately Amanda has a game plan in place for how her life would go and a man is not in the picture.

Amanda is driven to become a psychologist and a stepping stone on the way is being an intern for the lusty Dr. Gloria Tredway, sex therapist extraordinaire. Dr. Tredway has a unique view on therapy sessions and the bagful of tricks and treats that Amanda dumped at the feet of the adorable Mr. Sloan are intrinsic to her ‘hands-on’ approach. With the internship, studying, and a job bartending at the trendy bar Geekland, Amanda has no time for romance. When valentines begin showing up in her desk at work she is amused and then disturbed by their increasing tawdriness. Will offers to run interference as a stand in boyfriend and sparks fly in more than one way.

The seventh in Vicki Lewis Thompson’s Nerd series, My Nerdy Valentine pairs an aspiring psychologist and a stockbroker in denial of his nerdiness. With a cast of delightful characters, this whimsical book makes for a fabulous read. Both Amanda and Will are three-dimensional characters with heart and soul. I was embarrassed for Gloria and disgusted with Harvey. The banter between Amanda and the patrons at Geekland just added to the depth of her character. When things began to heat up, boy did I feel that! Once again a beta male has stolen my heart, well, until my man gets home at least. I cannot wait to see what Vicki Lewis Thompson comes up with next.
