Blue Silver: Lost Our Forever

Cassie Bryant had been a huge fan of the band Blue Silver as a teenager, as had her girlfriends. She even nicknamed their group the Silverettes. Age fifteen, the girls were going to see the band live in concert, but a limo break down shot down that dream in flames. Following graduation, Cassie went after what she wanted: fame, fortune and lead singer, Seth Graham. She used her sexuality to follow the band, to meet Seth and to marry him. Cassie lived the high life, as did the rest of the band, complete with cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. It was the lifestyle that ultimately destroyed her marriage, as well as the band. Now, years later, her friend Georgie wants her to use her connections with the band to get them to do a concert in their hometown while they are doing their comeback tour. Seth is now clean, having gone through various rehab programs. But can she trust Seth to stay away from his previous addictions? Can the band pull off their comeback? Now that they have matured, can Cassie and Seth finally have the mature and fulfilling relationship they should have had in the beginning?

Lost Our Forever is a fairly compelling tale about two people who had loved but lost one another, thanks to unmanageable fame, fortune and pressure. The story is told from both Cassie's and Seth's points of view, creating an interesting mix. On the one hand, we have the seasoned, cynical woman who has been through much but survived. On the other is the ex drug addict who fought his addictions but struggles always to resist succumbing. Each has many regrets about the past, not the least being each other. Both of them are fairly well developed characters, who have been written in a way that reflects the harshness of the lives they lived. Some abrasive language is used; the sex in this story is quite graphically depicted with coarse language. The plot flow is pretty smooth, providing an enjoyable read so long as you are not of a tender sensibility. This is my second read of this series, though not my last as I shall now be moving on to the next Blue Silver tale – and also not the last I will read from Natalie J. Damschroder, who has proven herself capable of writing an enjoyable plot with realistic characters with Lost Our Forever.
