Hildy Murrant has always had a soft spot for her childhood cabin and she treasures the times she spent there with her father. When she went there this time, she never expected to see an old acquaintance, one who has made it clear that she is the one for him. Though she tries to fight the attraction, Hildy can’t help but feel comfortable around Jim. It’s hard for her though to relax and befriend him like she would have done only because of the pain in her past. Being burned by her ex-lover has not left her completely. Can she protect her heart from Jim and learn from the past how to not get hurt again?

Jim has had pain in his life from his ex-wife. He never thought that he would meet someone that would change his outlook on love. Yet, when he meets Hildy she is different from his ex. However, she too was hurt by an ex-love and Jim tries everything he can to make her see that he will not hurt her. Each time he thinks he’s close to gaining her heart something interrupts their happiness. He is determined to prove to Hildy that he’s the one for her. Can Jim protect her from an evil ex to find their happiness together?

Everybody has their own haven to go to and for Hildy going to her childhood cabin seemed to be the safest place for her. That changes when her cousin wants Hildy to sell her the house, but Jim is also interested in buying the cabin which makes Hildy confused by his intentions. Here is a man that I thought was loveable even though there were many interruptions to sway him away from Hildy. I loved the interference; each time they think there’s a chance of making love something gets in their way. The family and secondary characters throughout the book were great with each trying to separate them. It made this a great book with so much humor in it, yet a tinge of romance. Jorrie Spencer did a great job in this book packed with romance and still maintained a little bit of action with the ex-boyfriend that will keep your attention.
