Lost Echoes
Peter Vincent is searching for a farewell gift for his fiancée. After finding an antique jewelry box, he is fascinated by the cameo that is embedded in the lid. He is so spellbound by the portrait; he decides to keep the gift for himself. Once he arrives in London, England, he will begin a search on the history of the sixteenth century lady that seems to capture his heart. Aurea of Pentrose lives with her aunt and uncle in the country of Surrey County, England. She lost her parents when she was very young, and now at the age of nineteen, she must find her a suitable husband. Aurea is set to be a handmaiden for Lady Gwynneth at Hampton Court. As she searches for a husband, she finds herself subject to many innuendos and false rumors. While working at Hampton Court, Aurea finds the portraits in the gallery most interesting. As she gazes upon a shimmering vision, she is certain it is a ghost when she happens to stumble upon Peter as he enters the gallery. He is surprised to see that it is the woman in the cameo, the one who has preyed upon his mind. Peter and Aurea may be from different centuries, but the liaison they are about to begin will span through time. As treason looms in the walls of Hampton, the two are soon to make their own change in history as some would rather keep them apart.
Lost Echoes is a star-stunning read. Take a wonderful journey into the lives of Peter and Aurea where love abounds with a simple touch of their hand or a warm gaze as they stare into each other’s path, while overcoming some harsh obstacles. They are truly refreshing characters and their communications incredible. Against the odds, they find the strength to endure practically anything as the strong will in Aurea abounds. I loved how Peter refused to give up on anything, not to mention the way he fell in love with the girl in the portrait. R. R. Shelsky has a winner in this fabulous tale filled with romance that touches the reader. With a well-crafted storyline and a wonderful plot, not only with the antique jewelry box, but the others who seek to treacherous dealings, this is one entertaining story.
