Love’s Alchemy by Ciar Cullen is an erotic paranormal romance. The book starts in the past with Sir Isaac Newton in his laboratory attempting an experiment that has eluded all other alchemists - the formation of a Philosopher’s Stone. This stone is historically purported to have the ability to heal and reanimate the dead. A miracle occurred and Sir Isaac may have succeeded, but he needs to test the stone to truly find out if it works. Next, we return to the present time and find Sidra in a bar waiting for a blind date. This is not your usual date, she met him online and he says that he has the ability to get rid of ghosts - a problem that has plagued Sidra recently. Sidra has had many losses and this is just the latest disappointment for her. While waiting, Sidra sees a gloriously handsome man, Van Donavan, who seems to be checking her out too. To her surprise, Van propositions her and after she gives him the brush off, she finds out that Van is the man she is waiting for. Sidra leaves but once outside, she is accosted by a group of strangers that back off when Van threatens them. Sidra awakens to find herself in her apartment with Van and two other men, Alex and Went, Van’s brothers. Van tells her about a fantastic story of SLIders who have varying psychic abilities. There is more to Sidra than she realizes and Van is more than willing to help her understand these things. Van and his brothers have a link to Sidra that she has no knowledge of. Will Van find a way to help Sidra become the person she is destined to be and will Sidra and Van find a common path so they can be together always?

Ms. Cullen has created a phenomenal book loosely using the famous historical character, Sir Isaac Newton, and using some of his known studies, formed the basis for an awesome book. I loved the use of the mythical Philosopher’s Stone to create a new form of life. Sidra is a very strong woman who is at a crossroads in her life where she needs help in coping with the curves that life is sending her. Van has been looking for someone for longer than most people remember and he thinks he has found it in Sidra. The closeness seen between Sidra and Van from the very beginning is almost mythical and very poignant. Love’s Alchemy is funny, fast paced, erotic and full of plot twists that keep the reader guessing what will happen next. It is my hope that there will be a sequel to this book. If any book screamed SEQUEL, it is Love’s Alchemy.
