All Things Except Blood

Eyrin is a vampire along with her clan protects humans from demons. According to their pact, her clan protects them and in return, the humans donate blood. Eyrin is one of her clan’s strongest fighters until the night she was gravely wounded. Now disfigured, she hides from all and refuses to feed. Now her human lover Ian has returned to the lair. Once he discovers her condition, he knows he must show her that she is still beautiful. Only as Eyrin takes him up on his offer, she does the one thing she had tried not to do; take too much blood as well as his life. Only with the help of her sire can Eyrin bring Ian back but as a vampire.

Ian is one of many humans that gladly donates their blood. Even though it is forbidden, he is in love with Eyrin. Determined to show that love to her, he offers her his neck to feed from which is also forbidden. Waking up as vampire, he is now more determined than ever to show Eyrin she can love him as well as show her the beauty of herself.

Yet Eyrin is not willing to take that step in trust and love. Feeling guilty, she tries to keep him at arms length but can she fight him and her feelings as well? Will these two come to terms and be free to love or will Eyrin’s determination to avoid the pain of the past keep them apart?

All Things Except Blood is a wonderfully written novella that makes you want more after that last sentence. Miss Kallysten gives you just the right dialogue and scene structure to put you into the storyline and feel like you are in the room with these two lovers. Each fighting scene is almost so real that you find yourself expecting them to come through your door yelling and with a clashing of swords. I found All Thing Except Blood to be a refreshingly unique and enjoyable novella. If I had wish it would be that this story most definitely needs a sequel.
