Josie is a werewolf and is fleeing through the forest in wolf form for her life. The hunters who track her have already killed her mate, Michael, and she is next on their list. She has already been injured, but is determined to survive. Is the man who appears in her path friend or foe? Can he be trusted? Do her wolf instincts take him out before she can find out if he poses a threat?

Lora Darling's Josie is an interesting novella, which spans a very short period of time but does not feel incomplete. As a character, Josie is fairly well developed for a novella, as is Shawn. There is a small amount of suspense in the plot, the hunters making great villains. The werewolf aspect is fairly well developed, with shifts and the lifestyle explained to the reader. The plot is well written and well paced. It does not seem rushed, nor does it feel as if something is missing. Josie does not contain any sex scenes, but there is nudity and the promise of a new relationship. Josie is an enjoyable novella, and shape shifter fans should be pleased with this one.
