Eloise de Mann is a vampire well over one hundred years old who doesn’t enjoy anyone stepping over her. She knows, from her past, she can never trust men, and has reasoned in her heart to stay clear of as many as possible, for the exception of a few immortals and Claude, a guardian that she finds completely useless. One thing that she detests is using coffins, but after awakening to find she is no longer in her silken bed, she knows that her guardian has betrayed her. She grows furious and declares she will get him for placing her inside the enclosed casket. Of course she soon learns that is the least of her problems when she happens upon a stranger inside her house. Lord Christian Montgomery is a Tory, and loyal supporter of King James II of England. When the Englishman takes up residence in Eloise’s home, he decides there is nothing that she can do to drive him away. If she wishes to have her home back, she must pay for the upkeep that he has done on the estate, which only infuriates Eloise more. There is only one way that Eloise could possibly pay to get her home returned to her, but is it a deal that she is willing to undergo? She soon learns that it just may be her only alternative.

Eloise’s Awakening: Immortality’s Caress 2 is the sequel to Ms. Martin’s first book, Immortality’s Caress: Allegra’s Seduction. I loved the character of Eloise because she is not a timid vampire. She stands her ground in this story and she will do anything in her power to get Christian to leave her abode. Christian comes off as a suave gentleman with a cool charm that fans the heat when he is near Eloise. Ms. Martin stirs some fire between the pages with Christian and Eloise. She creates in-depth characters that lend great creativity to this storyline and adds some explosively passionate scenes that keep the reader wondering what will happen with this lovely couple. This is a wonderful book that captivates the reader and takes them on an incredible journey that makes the life of a vampire so sweet.
