Rachelle is a mortal living on Gideon. She is in love with her lover Julian. She does not know a lot about him and is aware that he is keeping secrets but she trusts him totally. Julian is a magician who escaped from his enemy. While in captivity his magic almost turned evil and his body changed.

Julian needs Rachelle’s help to defeat his enemy and keep his fellow ex-captives safe. Rachelle has magic inside of her that she is unaware of but Julian needs to awaken. He needs her magic if he is going to win. Julian gives her a potion she has to take to awaken her magic. He needs for Rachelle to accept and trust him fully even though he his keeping a lot about himself from her.

Primal Magic: Scent is the second book in the series. This story is a continuation of the first book and is fun when read after the first book; on its own it is hard to understand. I found the unconditional love that Rachelle has for Julian to be both naive and heart warming. The book does not have a lot of action but Adrianna Dane wrote the story in such a way as to give it a dark, mysterious feeling that draws the reader in. Primal Magic: Scent is a unique and interesting story that I enjoyed reading. I look forward to the other installment in the series.
