I hate to admit this but I’m an Ancient Blood virgin. Never having had the pleasure of reading this series of books about The Network’s empire and its heroes I see that I’ve definitely been missing out. In Kate Hill’s latest book about another operative from the powerful network we are told the story of Sadavis, a vampire that fate hasn’t been kind to. From the brutality that has been heaped upon him since the moment of his birth to the consistent letdown by people in his life, as he has had to learn how to live with a face not even his mother could love. Esmeralda’s ability to see past his deformity to the man behind the kind eyes and gentle touch made me like her. Her spirit and refusal to give up on him at his lowest is what love is truly about. The beauty, the strength, and courage of the couple in this story were only one of the reasons I recommend people run out and purchase this book. Revenge of the Court Jester is a tale that will sweep you into a world of pain, insecurities, pure love, and best of all, survival when all seems lost. This is a story that should not be missed. Of course, now that I know the superiority of this spectacular writer I am definitely going on a shopping spree.
