Love’s Evolution

Love’s Evolution by Ally Blue is a homoerotic contemporary romance that portrays the birth and evolution of love between Chris Tucker and Matt Gallagher. The book is broken into different segments that chronicle Chris and Matt’s lives.

Their first meeting was by chance, but they were instantly drawn together. Matt follows Chris to give him something that he dropped, but when Chris first sees him he is stopped in his tracks. The feeling is completely mutual and after Matt basically propositions him, Chris invites him out for the evening. Chris, on cloud nine, goes to work, much to his boss’ amusement. Unlike most employers, his boss is cool and very excited for Chris. The evening starts with a bang as the two of them begin to learn about each other. Chris and Matt follow the old belief that opposites attract. Chris is your typical working man while Matt is your atypical free spirit, but they seem to fit together and complement each others differences perfectly. The first time Matt and Chris come together it is much more than a first time; it’s more spiritual in nature. They both feel this connection and are floored with its meaning.

As the book progresses, you watch Chris and Matt’s relationship develop from its beginning stages to a very committed relationship. We meet members of their families and see how they interact and relate to each other. The reader learns how Chris and Matt grew up into the people that they are with the love and support from their families.

Ms. Blue has created a story with humor, spice, heat, but most of all love. From the very beginning, the reader feels that there is something very special about Matt and Chris that could form a bond that would over come all obstacles. Chris and Matt seem very different, but deep down they have needs that neither is aware of and they can fill them completely. I love Matt as a very free character and how he keeps Chris on his toes and delightfully unbalanced - much to Chris’s pleasure. As a reader, I was pleasantly surprised how Matt and Chris’s families were so loving and supportive. If all families were like that many of the world problems would not exist. Ms. Blue should be commended for creating such a fun and loving book.
