Peridot by Parhelion is a homoerotic contemporary book. The story begins with Steve Corvey traveling overseas to purchase rare gems for his jewelry store. He gets a phone call from home that Nate, his old friend and partner, has been arrested. Nate grew up next door and his present actions are highly unusual for him. Steve decides to return home to find out what happened and to see that he could do to help Nate.

Steve’s family has been in town for a long time; they run a respected jewelry business. On the other hand, Nate’s families are all free spirits who really don’t fit in with the rest of the town. Steve feels comfortable with Nate’s families’ acceptance of his unusual beliefs. Nate accepts Steve’s sexual preference, and it has no bearing on their relationship.

Steve arrives home exhausted to find out the Nate’s life is in a shambles. Nate’s wife has left him and Nate is missing. Steve managed to find Nate, but will he be able to help him put his life back together or will there be something else waiting for Nate?

Parhelion has created an interesting story set in a time when homosexuality was not accepted the way it is today. Steve went out of his way to help his friend to get his life back. Unlike most people, Steve has a good understanding about his limitations and puts his needs aside for someone else. Nate has many things he needs to learn before he is ready to completely stand on his own. The erotic scene between Steve and Nate was brief, but very hot. As in real life, things don’t always end as we wish, but Nate and Steve stand together to help each other grow as individuals. Thanks to Parhelion for creating a unique story.
