More Than Fiends
Cassidy Burke is a successful businesswoman, owner of Clean Sweep, a cleaning company. Things are going great. She has a fabulous relationship with her daughter, her business is expanding and all looks fine. The only bad point is her love life. What's the problem? She doesn't have one, no matter how much certain body parts wish otherwise. Then Cassidy has a bad day; you know the ones. Nothing goes right. After that, it's all downhill. The father of her child moves back to town - unaware he has a daughter. Likewise, her daughter doesn't know he's alive, since Cassidy had told her he died during a heroic deed. And, oh yeah, some loony old lady (likely escaped from the local mental institution) is insisting she is a 'Demon Duster', the only one who can clean the world of the demons living amongst us.
Only, it looks like the old lady isn't mentally unbalanced, after all. Her grandmother had been keeping a huge secret from her. The Burke women, at the age of thirty-two, come into their powers. Their ability? To rid the world of the evil that lurks in humanity, thus restoring the balance of good and evil. What's Cassidy to do? This exercise-allergic woman is about to be put through a training unlike any other. And it is a training she will have to implement fast, if she wants to protect herself - and her daughter...
More Than Fiends is a brilliant read that kept me glued to the page. I could not put it down. Ordinarily, I do not go in for any book that is not primarily a romance, but boy oh boy am I sure happy that I snapped this one up! Though unlike any Maureen Child I have read previously, this is a hot read that I guarantee any paranormal fan will enjoy. The writing style is witty, unique and ingenious. The plot is full and robust, smooth flowing and absent of any inconsistencies or irritations. The characters are fabulous, well developed and very appealing, likeable and believable. There is sex, it does get described and it is fairly traditional. Can't say too much, since I don't want to give the game away, but I’d love to be faced with Cassidy's choice - and I know what (or who) I’d chose! I am looking forward to the next in the series, A Fiend In Need, though sadly I need to wait until March 2008. For a fantastic read, grab your copy of More Than Fiends IMMEDIATELY! You'll not be sorry you picked up this scrumptious tale!
