The Wyndmaster’s Lady
Sierran Morgan is the last of his bloodline left in Emardia. As a national hero in Emardia and the King’s champion, he quickly learns that even heroes can fall when a madman casts him into a dungeon where is he severely tormented and hanging on to life while waiting rescue. Anna Celeste never knew her mother who died when Anna was born. She lives with her father, and not once in her eighteen years has she even spoken to any man other than her father. She has no idea her father is the Dungeon Master that holds Sierran captive. When barbarians and thieves raid their home, the Dungeon Master insists that they flee but Celeste does not understand. When Sergeant Vargas DuMond enters the home and demands that Sierran be released, Celeste is very confused until she is forced to go down to the dungeon. Celeste cannot believe how badly the man they call Sierran is hurt or how anyone could put a living person in a trapped box with no air. When Vargas rescues Sierran, he orders the Dungeon Master placed inside the box and taken away, Celeste with him, but Sierran refuses to allow the girl to be locked up. Instead, he wishes Celeste brought upstairs to his bed. Celeste cannot believe that her father could be capable of having a torture chamber. Realizing the abuse her father has inflicted on Sierran, she wishes to nurse him back to health as a love flourishes between them. Sierran feels she is completely innocent of her father’s wrong doing as her simple touch shows she is compassionate, and that alone makes him want her for his wife.
The Wyndmaster’s Lady is a remarkable read that explodes with passion, romance and an undying love. Celeste shows strength and determination even when faced with pain and suffering. I felt empathy for Sierran with the treatment and cruelty that he endured. He is not a quitter and would not let anyone beat him down. Both characters are spirited and their intense chemistry heightens each time they are together. Charlotte Boyett-Compo creates a visual read that allows the reader to get lost in the emotions, the drama and the whole ambience of this compelling tale. This is one poignant read that delivers action at its finest. It has everything: love, hate, romance, passion, bickering and so much more. This is one highly recommended read that I enjoyed immensely.
