Gideon
Gideon is a revered ancient Body Demon who has been in seclusion for the past eight years due to an infraction that embarrassed him and made him realize that even he cannot resist the lure of a human female. Now that a serious shift in the politics and the realities of the Demon society have been shaken by a small human female with the blood of the Druids running through her veins, Gideon is forced out of seclusion and back into close contact with the demoness that drove him out into the human world.
Magdelegna was hurt badly when Gideon dismissed her as an infant when their paths crossed and sparks flew. She refuses to let herself forget his scorn and the fact that after pushing her aside he ran to a human woman instead. Having to deal with him because of all of the new things that have happened does not make her very happy. When a force from within threatens the very hope that their people have been waiting for, Legna is forced to ignore her anger and pain for the greater good of all demons.
Gideon is an absolutely amazing return to The Nightwalkers series. We are reunited with Jacob and Bella from Jacob as well as introduced to a number of intriguing new characters. The interaction between Gideon and Legna is fantastic, and Ms. Frank does a great job of giving us little bits of information throughout the book so that we eventually understand the reasoning between the reactions and attitudes they both have. While the language is more formal than in Jacob it worked because of the age of the two protagonists. I was intrigued by the glimpses of Gideon’s past that we received and would love to read more about his past. Legna was also just as interesting with her own idiosyncrasies and talents. I cannot wait for Elijah especially after the tease that was at the end of Gideon.
