Scarred

Scarred by J.M. Snyder is a homoerotic futuristic romance story.

Dae’s life, like everyone else in the world, was irrevocably changed when the war broke out and forced all the people who are left to try to live any way they can. Dae was told by his father to do whatever he can to protect his sister Delia, which plays heavily in his current predicament. Their hometown, like all the others, is controlled by regulators, dangerous groups of men who have absolute control over their territory. One such regulator, McBane, has been using Dae for stress release by sexual and physical abuse. McBane threatens to hurt Delia if Dae doesn’t do everything that he tells Dae to do. A new group of regulators enters Dae’s diner under the rules of a young regulator named Coby. Dae finds him fascinating and when things almost come to a head with a member of the gang, Coby, for some unknown reason sticks up for Dae, which confuses him. Coby ends up spending the night, but to Dae’s confusion all he does is hold and comfort Dae. Who i! s Coby and what does he want from Dae? Can Dae find it in his heart to trust again and give Coby a chance to prove himself?

J.M. Snyder has created a fascinating futuristic world where, in spite of the lawlessness, people still maintain their humanity. Coby is a strange mixture of extreme danger with a core of gentleness. Dae has had many terrible experiences, but he finds within himself the capacity to trust once more is spite of the odds. Together Coby and Dae overcome all obstacles to trust each other even though other people are opposed to their union. The love scenes are both erotic and very poignant. The look into one possible course of the future is scary, but the belief that humanity can persevere is comforting. Thanks goes to J.M. Snyder for a great read.
