Winter Stallion

Phillipa is a confident woman, half human and half Horseman, she is proud of her heritage. She was born to a loving family and though common, her father and brother were or are among the finest fighting carriers known far and wide. Running her own messenger service keeps her happily busy, and while unable to fly like her brother she rides with the best of them. Out on one of her runs she has an accident and is knocked unconscious in the snow.

Luther is a Woodfield-Shire of the Lawton Orchard, more importantly to Luther, he is a fighting carrier and very proud of it. He has turned his back on his heritage many years ago. After a tragic accident during a gathering where he was severely injured and many died, Luther has lost confidence in his leadership ability and he has spent all his time recovering and worrying about his future. Unsure whether to return to the fighting carriers or become private to reduce his leadership responsibilities, he is sure he won’t return to the family business. His latest dream however, has eclipsed all.

Kate Hill is an awesome storyteller and Winter Stallion is a splendid read. This is the fourth in her Horseman series and while possible to read as a stand alone, why would you? Dream Stallion, Captive Stallion and Highland Stallion were of the finest caliber. Phillipa is an engaging character, while independent; she is also willing to give and take. Luther, though torn and in doubt about his abilities, is a wonderful and thoughtful being, ready to listen and learn from others. Again, Winter Stallion was a fine story, part of an excellent series and definitely a winner for Kate Hill.
