Liquid Hypnosis

Special Agent Samantha Garrett, DEA, is a human lie detector, and she and her team have gotten a tip that a chemist is going to be trying out his new drug on unsuspecting women. What she hadn’t counted on was meeting a man, Kevin. To top it off, he’s the suspect’s brother, and sent electrical charges through her body while trying to discover just what the drug is. Now they have to find out who has kidnapped Peter Brewster, the chemist. People are not only disappearing but they are also dying because of what Peter has discovered is a side effect to his drug - mind control. It seems other things keep getting in the way and she’s not sure that she’ll be able to find Peter before he’s killed. How can she solve the case when the suspects disappear and she and her team keep coming up with more clues than answers?

Kevin wants to find Peter before something bad happens to him, and he wants to know what’s going on. Kevin has to keep Samantha from finding out about their sideline or he knows it’ll be over between them before it even starts. Being a doctor, he knows how hard it is for patients to get the care they need; that’s why they started doing what they did. But he can’t let Sam into their group, and he wishes things were different.

Ms. LaVon has written a book that will keep readers on the edge of their seats with the suspense that she’s incorporated into the story. There is romance between Samantha and Kevin, but that is just icing on the cake. The story has such a twist to it that when it happens you wonder how you didn’t see that coming. Ms. LaVon has taken this reader on a ride that I would joyfully go on again and again. The characters are fantastic in that they are so believable you can almost hear them breathing, their hearts speeding up when they’re lying to Samantha, and see the trickle of sweat rolling down their faces.
