Impure Longings
Dorothea Harper is in a desperate financial state after becoming a widow. While attending an intimate dinner party, she seeks someone to be a protector instead of a man that is appealing, someone safe and steady to assure her lodgings and food. Her friend, Ellen, is responsible for arranging Dorothea to meet Lord Tremayne. Dorothea heard he was a wonderful man and they would suit well together. Ellen doesn’t wish to see Dorothea on the streets starving, and because of Ellen’s kindness, Dorothea has been able to have some satisfying meals. Daniel Holbrook, Lord Tremayne, is anxious to see the Widow Harper. Once he sees Dorothea, his body reacts in a way that it has seldom acted with any female. He is certain he and Dorothea will suit well together. Dorothea notices Daniel doesn’t even converse with her during dinner and wonders if he is even interested. Yet, just gazing upon him sends heated sparks her way. He has already provided a home for her and after he takes her to it, they embark on some sensual discoveries that open up doors for the both of them. She feels indebted to him for wishing to care for her. With her first husband, Dorothea, more or less lived in a marriage of convenience, never really exploring the body, but with Daniel, it appears that they both have a longing for a bit of carnal indulgence that ignites into some soothing heat.
Impure Longings takes the reader on a stunning quest with Dorothea and Daniel. Each is fascinating and carries a certain sensual mystery about them as they seek to unlock the real desires within their heart. I found it interesting the way each had their little secret they wished to explore. There for a moment it was as if their brainwaves were sending signals to the other. Larissa Lyons sketches a convincing story that flows consistently. She opens the doors to some possibilities between Dorothea and Daniel that lure in the reader to each enticing scene. She gives her characters true grit and genuine feelings that breathe life into the pages. Even her passionate encounters were gracefully written not to lose the reader in the moment, in this enchanting tale that is splendid in every way.
