Web of Deceit

Faith Lawrence Callahan wants a change after the death of her husband, Steve. She and seven-year-old son, Matthew, return to the town of Greer to Grandma Helen’s. Faith has received too many strange phone calls and going home will be a new life for them. Matthew is not too keen on the idea of leaving San Diego, but Faith knows that God has never let her down and she has to believe this time he won’t either. Both are having a hard time dealing with Steve’s death. When the Lady Luck went down, there were no remnants left and Steve was presumed dead. Their marriage had been a bit rocky but she always honored Steve. Adam Quinn is on disability leave to recuperate from a car accident involving a drunk driver. He feels God gave him a second chance. His friend, Charlie, needs Adam to keep Faith under surveillance. It appears Steve was gun trafficking, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were keeping an eye on him before his sudden disappearance with the Lady Luck. Because of his actions, Faith is now under scrutiny, and Adam must keep an eye on the lovely lady. Adam hasn’t forgotten the beautiful Faith, and for years she has haunted his dreams. He grows closer to Faith, and Matthew, while recalling old memories. Faith never imagined seeing Adam would stir womanly feelings inside her. As Faith and Adam grow closer together, the phone calls start again. Adam wants to protect Faith even though Charlie believes he shouldn’t get attached. Faith has something someone desperately wants and plans to get it at any cost. As Adam tries to get to the truth, he knows it will take lots of prayers to keep his loved ones safe, especially when Faith learns what he is up to.

Web of Deceit is an engaging read. I immediately was drawn into this page-turner and didn’t want to put it down. Faith, Adam, and Matthew are well-drawn characters and exhibit so much humility and realism throughout, that it was as if I was a part of their world. The colorful casts of characters are well-developed and helped the storyline to flow smoothly. It was like getting to know a whole town. It displays all the right elements, in making a stirring read that latches onto the reader, and leaves a great impression even after it has ended. Kim Watters blends a wonderful tale, with remarkable visualization that draws in the audience. She had me completely hooked with this nail-biting story. She blends a clever plot, with action, that keeps the reader glued. With some suspense, mixed with betrayal, deceit and some evil villains, thrown in, this is one outstanding story, and one, highly recommended read.
