No Humans Involved
No Humans Involved is Book 7 in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Underworld series.
Jaime Vegas has been performing her whole life long, and now her big break is finally within sight. Jaime is a powerful and beautiful necromancer, and she, along with two others, has been invited to attempt to raise the ghost of Marilyn Monroe for a reality show television special. This could be the biggest thing she’s ever done, and it has the possibility of landing her a network show of her own. Problems arise right away, however, when Jaime feels a presence, something that won’t let her be, from the garden of the house where the special is being filmed.
Enter Jeremy Danvers, pack leader of the werewolves. He is strongly attracted to Jaime and has been for a long while. He comes to Los Angeles to assist her and they find themselves embroiled in an investigation into what is causing Jaime to react so powerfully to the garden. They stumble upon a strange cult, one that is steeped in ritual magic, exploration and sacrifice. Will they escape with their lives?
Let me just say that I love Kelley Armstrong. Love her! Her work is so refreshing and her female characters are some of the best I’ve ever read. I adore her unapologetically strong and determined women and the men she pairs with them. Jaime and Jeremy are no different – they are a perfect fit for each other, and watching them get down to the business of having a relationship was nearly as exciting as the act itself! It was invigorating and distinctive to see a sexy, powerful forty-something couple with an abundance of passion and power – J&J aren’t anybody’s middle-aged marshmallows. Ms. Armstrong aptly deals with the heartbreak of Jaime’s past and the struggle she has with overcoming her upbringing and finding her own dreams. Toss in a passel of danger, some creepy villains and add a pinch of romance, and you have everything necessary for an excellent story with the power to move you! Five Angels and Recommended Read!
