Devil’s Pearl

Having been left with a damaged reputation and struggling to survive, Julia Beaumont finally has a chance to earn enough to maintain a decent lively hood. With her first hand knowledge of how men of wealth only use women from her station in life for one thing, she has learned the hard way how love can go horribly wrong. When Sir Devlin Vaughn reappears in her life and takes her hostage she has to use every ounce of her will to keep her heart locked away and keep from being destroyed by her love for Sir Vaughn once and for all.

In a Regency set historical this erotic treat has the heavy emotion I come to expect from love experienced in the past, men who loved hard but who at times still were as clueless as their present brethren. In Devil’s Pearl the story is a glaring example of how the lack of communicating one’s feelings can be the downfall to even the strongest of loves. Dawn Halliday did an excellent job of infusing this novella with the right amount of torment and plenty of sensual thrills. The connection between Devlin and Julia was really intense even when both of them seem clueless about their real worth to each other. Great job and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
