Remodeled Romance
With a little charm, a little humor, and a lot of emotion, author, Jeannie James has penned an engaging story of well laid plans going slightly awry.
Leisa Domaine is about to have her calm and serene life turned topsy-turvy when she meets gorgeous contractor, Jared McEnroe. With her recent move to San Juan Island, Leisa believes her life is finally beginning to transform into one of peace and serenity. Growing up in a house filled to bursting with kids and neighbors, little personal attention from her mother, and clutter and chaos at every turn, Leisa wants a calm and organized “beige” life. No kids are in her future, she is adamant about that. She doesn’t want to share her life with anyone but her partner. When she meets Jared McEnroe at a Friday Harbor café, she believes he is “the one” she is meant to share her life with, and Jared seems to feel the same way about Leisa.
Jared believes he has finally found the woman he has been searching for. The one he is meant to raise a family with, but something is a little off when he introduces her to his nephew Robbie. Why is she pulling away when they have so much to look forward to?
Jared and Leisa are a fine pairing. They are attractive, intelligent and very likeable characters. Jared is a real “man’s man” who knows what he wants and pursues it full bore. Leisa is a woman trapped by her mistaken beliefs; believing she wants one thing but down deep yearning for something else. I found myself suffering along with her and the decisions she was trying to make. Robbie is a charming young fellow and does not detract from the story in any way, he enhances it. Brilliant descriptions of San Juan Island, its flora and fauna, made this reader feel like I was there, along with the characters. A lovely way to spend the afternoon, Remodeled Romance is a great beach read. Jeannie James has captured the essence of love and family in a cozy little volume.
