War Torn
War Torn by J.M. Snyder is a homoerotic futuristic story.
Jace is very worried about his partner Tomas. Jace and Tomas are both in the armed services, and Tomas was just notified that his battalion is being shipped to the Bridge. The world is a very dangerous place where an all out war threatens to breakout at anytime. The Bridge area is a hot spot that is very dangerous and the battalion leader, Lieutenant Rosser is known for sending his men into very risky situations. Jace doesn’t know what he would do if anything happened to Tomas. Tomas goes in spite of Jace’s reservations, and he has a bad feeling about it. Unfortunately, Jace’s worst nightmare happens, and war breaks out leaving many people at the Bridge dead or MIA. Jace asks his friend Max to help him, but even she doesn’t have much more information about the causalities. Jace makes a decision to take things into his own hands knowing that the consequences might keep Jace and Tomas apart. Where is Tomas, and will Jace and Tomas find there happy ever after?
Ms. Snyder has created a futuristic world where people fight to stay alive and to maintain their humanity. Jace had a terrible injury and through it all Tomas stood by him just like he isn’t willing to give up hope of seeing Tomas again. Tomas loves Jace very much and believes that somehow Jace will find a way to save him. Jace is willing to give up everything he holds dear without a thought to find his love. The selfless love between Jace and Tomas is the rock around how they live their lives and respond to everyone. The setting upon which this story is based is very realistic and shows us what we could face as a world if people continue to be unwilling to work together for a better tomorrow. Thanks go to Ms. Snyder for another look into a world where human feelings are in the end the most important things of all.
