A Widow's Justice

Left alone to take care of the farm, Abigail Scotts fears the worst. Her husband left three weeks earlier to head to town for supplies and has not returned. Dusty Johanssen is among a group of riders taking a supply of gold to town when they happen upon Abigail trying to round up her flock of sheep. Dusty is taken in by her beauty and determination. He assures her that he will return the next day to help her pick up the pieces of her farm left in a shambles by a storm. When Dusty shows up the next day, he tells her that her husband has been killed by a band of outlaws, and encourages her to move back East to her family. Stubborn and determined to stay put, Dusty decides the best way to convince her that she is in danger is to show her what she may be up against if the outlaws find their way to her home. Instead of scaring Abigail as he intends, they are both surprised when passion flares between them. When a group of men show up looking for the widow Scotts, Dusty tells them that she is his wife. Not fooled by the lie, the men return in hopes of finding the gold they believe her husband has hidden somewhere on the farm. Dusty and Abigail have to put their trust in each other to defeat the outlaws and save her farm. What will happen when the dust settles, and Abigail no longer needs Dusty to protect her?

S.D. Grady has penned a great western romance. Abigail is the perfect model of a prairie woman. Strong-willed and determined to survive at all costs, she digs in and does what she has to do to protect herself and her property. Dusty is a handsome, honest, hard-working man. I liked him immensely. His morals and integrity made him all the more attractive, even though he already was one hot, sexy cowboy. I wouldn't have minded having him come to my rescue and would have been willing to show him my gratitude…over and over. A Widow's Justice had a wonderful plot, and the story moved along at a nice pace. I was sorry to see it come to an end. I will be watching for more stories from S.D. Grady in the future.
