Supernatural Love
Megan Clarke is trying to sell Hartford House, a great mansion she inherited from her uncle, so she can pay off her departed mother’s debts. Although the property is lovely, it is not attracting much interest. Not surprising when one considers the long-running rumors of the house being haunted, plus the big price tag. Her only genuine nibble is Liz Pendleton, paranormal romance author – and mother of Jake. Ten years ago she and Jake were high school sweethearts, but their breakup was vicious. The spark remains between them, but Megan is determined not to get involved with Jake again. She is in a serious relationship with David, a man who is much more reliable and steady than Jake. They might not have sparks, but he doesn’t have the power to hurt her as Jake did.
Jake is determined to prevent his mother from buying Hartford House. Her current property is much more suitable. Besides, he doesn’t trust Megan, not since she betrayed him ten years ago. He wouldn’t put it past her to be faking the ghostly apparitions. To his consternation his attraction to her is as strong as ever; and buried beneath the surface may be something more, something deeper. But Jake has big trust issues. He can’t conceive that he may have gotten it wrong ten years ago. That would mean…well, it’s too much to be considered. Besides, she’s involved. And he’s not interested. He’s not!
The ghost of Hartford House knows these two are soul mates, and feels it is her duty to bring them together – kicking and screaming all the way, if must be. Will they fight it, or will they jump into each other’s arms once more?
As soon as I began to read I knew this was going to be a fabulous story, one I would love and hate to put down. I read most in one sitting, then had to go to bed. I couldn’t wait to return from work the next day to finish this delightful tale, but I managed to break my ankle in two places and land myself in the hospital. After my ordeal, picking up where I left off wasn’t an option. So I read it from the beginning – and didn’t regret doing so for one moment! The plot is so fabulously developed, the tale just wonderfully written and the characters, including Caroline’s ghost, are just superb. This is a sweet romance, with a sensual edge and no graphic love scenes. There is some sex, but mild and in keeping with the plot. It is limited, occurs later in the story, and is tenderly described, not to mention wholly vanilla. For a genuine paranormal romance, Jeanine Berry’s Supernatural Love is a guaranteed, bona fide Class A read!
