Talin McKade has come out of hiding and looking for her former best friend and shift-changing leopard, Clay Bennett. Talin and Clay became close childhood friends under the worst of situations. But Clay did something so horrendous in Talin’s eyes, even though Clay was doing it to protect her. It has been twenty years since she has seen the angry young boy now turned into a handsome and very much alpha male. Talin needs Clay’s help and has no where else to turn to, but she is not sure what Clay will do because he believes she has been dead for all this time.

Clay thinks he is seeing a ghost when he finally sees his “Tally”. Clay feels betrayed and bitter because Talin was his whole life and the one thing he cared for. He killed for her and expected her gratitude and everlasting love. Instead she ran far away and tricked him into thinking she had died. Now she is back, needing his protection. Clay decides to help Talin because human children are ending up tortured and dead. It is up to Clay and his pack, including some other shift changing friends to come to his aid. He will have to call in some favors and put his own life in danger. But when it comes to Talin, he can’t deny her anything. She is his mate and he will do anything to make her stay this time. He will chase her down if she even tries to run away this time. He wants to mark her as his own, but Talin thinks she is damaged both inside and out. She also believes she is dying and even if she wanted to be with Clay, death may have the final say in this matter.

Nalini Singh has done it again with Mine to Possess, Book 4 in her Psy/Changeling Series. Each book is such an incredible read and Mine to Possess is no exception. This is some heavy reading as the characters of Clay and Talin are so scarred because of their childhood and the emotional walls they have built up. But when Clay is able to break down those walls and Talin welcomes him with open arms, watch out, because their love is powerful, emotional and all consuming. If you have not had the chance to read this series, I would recommend you start with the first book, Slave to Sensation and read all the rest till you are able to understand this world and the wonderful characters Nalini has created. She is the one bright author in the science fiction romance world and there is no doubt that, Mine to Possess will be the must read for 2008!
